From the time we wrote this edition of the book, George Coulouris (1937- 2024) was Visiting Professor in Residence at the Computer Laboratory, University of Cambridge where he pursued research in sentient systems, and Emeritus Professor of Computer Systems at Queen Mary, University of London. Jean Dollimore was a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science at Queen Mary, University of London until her retirement in 2000.
Tim Kindberg is the founder of creative technology company matter II media. He was a senior researcher at HP Labs in Palo Alto and Bristol, a visiting professor of computer science at the University of Bath and ITU Copenhagen, a lecturer at the South China University of Technology, and a senior lecturer at Queen Mary London. He was an honorary fellow at the Bristol Digital Futures Institute, and research director at the Pervasive Media Studio.
Gordon Blair is a Professor of Distributed Systems in the Computing Department at Lancaster University and is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Tromsø in Norway.
